The name is inspired by how it climbs — scala means stair, or ladder. Worn together, three chains of three different lengths make up the piece: a fine triple strand placed up near the top of the ankle, a sleek single chain in the middle, and a flat herringbone sitting just below the ankle bone. Each chain has its own spot, so they layer cleanly instead of tangling — it gives the effect of three anklets, made as one piece.
